[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so I was doing a private investigations job and I was about two hours into it and a car pulled up next to me that I was convinced Rob Spuac sent [SPEAKER_05]: It's not, I swear to God, I took this picture. [SPEAKER_05]: I took my camera away from the house I was watching. [SPEAKER_05]: And I shot, it's not just pest solutions. [SPEAKER_05]: It's serious pest solutions. [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm still convinced it was a rob speedwack attack. [SPEAKER_05]: I think not me. [SPEAKER_04]: Not me. [SPEAKER_04]: I don't buy many of them. [SPEAKER_07]: All right, now we have a plan here. [SPEAKER_07]: How is it? [SPEAKER_07]: Plans are for babies. [SPEAKER_07]: I know, but you just made reference to I had a PI job. [SPEAKER_07]: We have never discussed that on the show. [SPEAKER_07]: No, don't know that you have another side to yourself. [SPEAKER_07]: They very unusual odd side where you do some private investigation work. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: It seems out of character. [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, it does. [SPEAKER_05]: But I'm not sure what my character is. [SPEAKER_05]: And I also know that I'm not consistent. [SPEAKER_05]: But for a guy whose life was kind of in comedy, if people watching and listening now don't know, I also did a lot of armed security. [SPEAKER_07]: Yes. [SPEAKER_05]: And we did a lot about that on the last show. [SPEAKER_05]: The other series we did in the in the in the 40s. [SPEAKER_05]: And, and meeting all of those people led to meeting some private eyes and I decided that I think I'll do that for a while. [SPEAKER_05]: So I go out and do surveillance and, you know, I learned a lot and applied it early and I kind of like it. [SPEAKER_07]: It's quite fascinating and you've called me sometimes. [SPEAKER_04]: What what private life is that from a woman I show that's the funny end of a show stinger from the rockford files You know, he's normally talking with Rocky or Beth Davenport and some funny is said and then what what [SPEAKER_05]: now I remember it. [SPEAKER_05]: Can you can you re-lock your booth? [SPEAKER_05]: Could you, Rob? [SPEAKER_05]: Really? [SPEAKER_05]: So I do private eye work and it's peculiar, but as I explained to the various bosses I've had in the PI world. [SPEAKER_05]: It employs an awful lot of things I learned as a producer. [SPEAKER_05]: You're telling a story, you're following people, you're trying to figure out what's going on. [SPEAKER_05]: And they're all saying stuff like, his videography is better than most of the other pee guys. [SPEAKER_05]: And I go, I don't know why I don't know why it is. [SPEAKER_07]: life-long photography, you know, so yeah, so, and this is one of the things in, you know, I've set this to you a variety of times over the years. [SPEAKER_07]: You have a lot of interests and because of that, you have been able to pursue a wide variety of things, you know, sometimes if the TV jobs aren't there, you say, well, let me try this. [SPEAKER_07]: I've always been interested. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and that's, that's very admirable and it's very cool. [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I think it's flexible. [SPEAKER_07]: You know, that's which is good. [SPEAKER_07]: You have to be. [SPEAKER_07]: So here's a question though. [SPEAKER_07]: And again, this is not how the show was supposed to start, but folks, you're used to this. [SPEAKER_07]: Hey, Tom, you've revealed that you're a private investigator. [UNKNOWN]: Yes. [SPEAKER_07]: you are, uh, some people are watching this. [SPEAKER_07]: You're on camera. [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_07]: Does that, um, does that mean you're out of the business now? [SPEAKER_07]: Because you've revealed yourself. [SPEAKER_07]: Someone could see you and go wait a minute. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a good question. [SPEAKER_05]: It's a good question. [SPEAKER_05]: I think what it means is that most of the time I will not investigate, uh, [SPEAKER_05]: people of a different persuasion who are doing local news and have a early morning show where they have to get up to 30. [SPEAKER_05]: I have to compartmentalize the people that I'm willing to investigate. [SPEAKER_05]: Now, completely bald podcasters that live in Washington are still fair game for me. [SPEAKER_05]: You know, so, you know, mostly the white ones, you know, I've got to say [SPEAKER_04]: You know, and some some some talk about you Rob's growing my hair out. [SPEAKER_04]: Effective now. [SPEAKER_07]: All right. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I just want you to be safe. [SPEAKER_07]: So, you know, I think about it and maybe you need to wear disguises from now on. [SPEAKER_07]: I wear groucho glasses. [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, you do. [SPEAKER_07]: Well, that's certainly just a call of attention to you. [SPEAKER_05]: No, no, no, it does, but they look at me and they're scared. [SPEAKER_05]: So, they just, they just, I'm not following you at all. [SPEAKER_05]: You know what I do do for real, when I'm in a neighborhood, like a residential neighborhood instead of commercial, I will call the local police department, and I say, hi, I'm Gary Stein, I'm a private investigator. [SPEAKER_05]: They ask me if I'm carrying, I say, yes, I am. [SPEAKER_05]: That's good. [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, and they want to know the license plate of my car, and because this way, people are pretty observant, and I like that. [SPEAKER_05]: They will say that a truck or something has been there all day and the call of police department the police department will say we know about it He's fine. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay. [SPEAKER_06]: Wow. [SPEAKER_06]: Okay. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and then I often shoot those neighbors when the day's over, you know, but I wait till it's over right because that's just fun for you It's not uh [SPEAKER_05]: Well, it's not fun. [SPEAKER_05]: It's target practice because I have to make sure that I'm actually like, so we're not going to get into this. [SPEAKER_07]: What are we ever going to do our show? [SPEAKER_07]: We are going to go to the moment. [SPEAKER_07]: But because again, you just, you just, you just talk and you just go, you just say things and just keep going. [SPEAKER_07]: So you said they asked me if I'm carrying, I tell them [SPEAKER_05]: Well, it could be, but I've also stopped it like a specialty shop and picked up some items. [SPEAKER_05]: And that could not carry in. [SPEAKER_05]: No, I am carrying a firearm and I don't have to disclose what the firearm is. [SPEAKER_05]: They just want to know, they just want to know if I'm carrying. [SPEAKER_05]: And I say yes, and they know that PIs will carry. [SPEAKER_05]: And also, I have a license in New York and New Jersey and Pennsylvania to carry. [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, and. [SPEAKER_05]: And it's not the funny guy, but you know, we are a lot of different things, you're funny and then you nap. [SPEAKER_05]: And so there's a lot to go on with you too. [SPEAKER_04]: Do you have a good relationship with the police of the two states where you were a PI? [SPEAKER_05]: When I'm not handcuffed, I have a very, very good relationship with the police because no here's the thing Rob, you know, I'm always in a different city so I'm calling the police department of the town I'm in I see can I have a I have a motto it's always good to open with a joke and so what if you called and you said hey it's me and I'm gerion. [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, it's, oh my god, that's terrible. [SPEAKER_08]: No, it's not. [SPEAKER_08]: What? [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_05]: Because the thing that they would appreciate the most is if I actually tell them a good joke. [SPEAKER_05]: So I think that if I tell them I'm garring and I go get it, I think I'm going to be under arrest. [SPEAKER_05]: And I won't get the job done. [SPEAKER_05]: But anyway, that's that's that. [SPEAKER_07]: That's very interesting because you mentioned it. [SPEAKER_07]: So we got to explain it. [SPEAKER_07]: Now, let me ask you a question, yes, you've got the green screen again. [SPEAKER_07]: I will say once again, I don't mind it looks good, but I assume you're going to put something new and different up behind you. [SPEAKER_05]: Well, that's your problem.
