[SPEAKER_08]: We have a lot of return listeners and viewers from our old show, but hopefully we're attracting new people.

[SPEAKER_08]: So we can't assume they know everything about us and all that kind of thing.

[SPEAKER_08]: So let me tell you, Donnie Simpson, Radio, TV legend, the host of video soul on BET back in the 80s and 90s.

[SPEAKER_08]: Number one, radio, a disjockey, and Detroit, when he was a kid, here at WKYS in Washington, D.C. when I worked with him on the morning show, here again on Magic 102.3 in the afternoons, when I worked with him on the afternoons show, just Mr. Golden-Tones, fantastic person.

[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think people know this either, but when he was a baby,

[SPEAKER_06]: Little tiny baby wasn't he the baby Moses that was sent down the river in the basket in in the ten commandments That is absolutely right.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's absolutely right.

[SPEAKER_08]: That's a little piece of trivia that people don't realize and You know his voice had already developed and they had to dub out.

[SPEAKER_08]: He said hey, what are you doing?

[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, he said like they said hey, what are you doing and that didn't seem appropriate for a baby right?

[SPEAKER_08]: Although someone on the set did say that guy's gonna be in radio

[SPEAKER_06]: That's right.

[SPEAKER_06]: He's he's going to be big.

[SPEAKER_06]: It worked out.

[SPEAKER_08]: Uh, the, you, you have a strange strange.

[SPEAKER_08]: So you asked how much, um, did we charge Donnie first of all?

[SPEAKER_08]: We didn't do that.

[SPEAKER_08]: I offered to pay Donnie because his vote, you're going to hear his voice throughout the show.

[SPEAKER_08]: Uh, and, uh, he, uh, he,

[SPEAKER_06]: wouldn't take money because he's that kind of guy he is he isn't you guys listen you guys have been very very good friends for a very long time yeah and and when you when you offered and said you know we would we would offer to pay donnie I said if you want to go ahead I'm not I'm not putting anything so then I was relieved when he said you don't have a feeling yeah I thought you changed your mind and just said okay good Gary's not in so oh

[SPEAKER_08]: I also want to say that that open and some of the I guess you call them liners or drop ends that you're going to hear during the show at the end of the show that Donnie has also done.

[SPEAKER_08]: We're produced by our old radio producer Rick Chill.

[SPEAKER_08]: he was our producer at magic one of two point three uh... i asked donny to record lines and he recorded them he sent them to rick so rick could process them so that they saw in the way you want them to sound on the air and uh... not that they would sound wimpy or anything other other otherwise but he couldn't sound wimpy could not sound wimpy but he might want a hamburger never mind i'm not going to go all right please don't please don't

[SPEAKER_06]: She does voiceovers all day long and I asked her, you know, I said, if you record some lines for us, [SPEAKER_06]: uh... you can have dinner tonight and and and she said I've been hungry hungry so she went right to the microphone [SPEAKER_08]: see the basement locked in the basement with a microphone. [SPEAKER_06]: Well, we don't have a basement. [SPEAKER_06]: So I have to put her in a closet. [SPEAKER_06]: But anyway, out of the goodness of her heart and her stomach rumbling, she recorded some lines. [SPEAKER_06]: So can I just play one for you in case, you know, because alternatively, like if the lines don't even record it, like let's say his line is horse one day. [SPEAKER_06]: We might we might want to play and Sarah recorded a whole bunch too. [SPEAKER_08]: It's not just Donnie that it'd like ten of them and she's a pro So yes, I would love to hear that. [SPEAKER_06]: I don't have a very resonant voice. [SPEAKER_06]: I have kind of a nasal voice because I don't have a very delicate nose. [SPEAKER_06]: Do you have a light? [SPEAKER_06]: Because I was good thinking during the show. [SPEAKER_06]: You know, so I think I speak through my nose. [SPEAKER_06]: Do you think I do? [SPEAKER_06]: Um, not really. [SPEAKER_08]: I think you're, I just think you're really not really. [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I, I don't think of you that way. [SPEAKER_08]: I don't hear it that way. [SPEAKER_08]: But, you know, probably just because of the way you're built, it influences your voice a little bit. [SPEAKER_06]: So, because I'm built with a large nose, there's no way you can fix that or clean it up, and I'm so happy about it. [SPEAKER_06]: Is it better now though? [SPEAKER_06]: I have a better voice over voice now. [SPEAKER_08]: I've known you 30 years or something like that 30 years. [SPEAKER_08]: You you you fixate more on your nose than anybody else does. [SPEAKER_08]: I've never been with you. [SPEAKER_08]: Has you walked out of the room and have someone say he's got a really big nose. [SPEAKER_08]: Not Charlie, not Diane. [SPEAKER_08]: No, nobody, a good morning America. [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_06]: No, because when would it come up? [SPEAKER_06]: Right. [SPEAKER_06]: But I have to tell you something. [SPEAKER_06]: So when I was a young actor, everybody on our old fans know about my failed acting career. [SPEAKER_06]: But I was on to a bunch of TV shows and movies and all of that, you know? [SPEAKER_06]: I did stuff, but I thought about getting a nose job, and I was a young actor thinking that I don't really want to be a character actor, or a joke. [SPEAKER_06]: So I thought about getting a nose job, and whenever I brought it up to people, [SPEAKER_06]: the same person was brought up. [SPEAKER_06]: They would say you don't need a nose job. [SPEAKER_06]: Look at Dustin Hoffman and I would think if all you're doing is bringing up Dustin Hoffman, the man in Hollywood who had the biggest nose in town to Adrian Brody came on the scene, that's saying something because you don't say that I look like Jan Michael Vincent. [SPEAKER_06]: Where did I get that one from? [SPEAKER_08]: Where did I bring him up from? [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, why the comparison to Dustin Hoffman? [SPEAKER_08]: Always. [SPEAKER_08]: But look at the career he had and with a prominent nose. [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_08]: And he's a rarity, though. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a rarity. [SPEAKER_08]: Yes, he is. [SPEAKER_08]: Your nose does not dominate your face. [SPEAKER_08]: It does. [SPEAKER_06]: No. [SPEAKER_08]: You've got a, you know, you've got a good face. [SPEAKER_06]: Um, you know, I think what dominates my face is my left eye. [SPEAKER_06]: I've always favored it. [SPEAKER_06]: I've always enjoyed it the most.
